Senator JACINTA COLLINS (VictoriaParliamentary Secretary for School Education and Workplace Relations) (20:48): If a health and safety representative resigns and a new health and safety representative is elected, then indeed there is a three-month period and there would be the requirement that the new health and safety representative go through training. But that is no different from any other retention issue that employers face. If someone resigns there are costs associated with replacing them and you would be aware, as am I, of the extraordinary lengths that sensible employers go to to avoid those costs. The same would apply with respect to seeking to maintain valuable health and safety representatives.
