To the Honourable the President and members of the House of the Senate assembled in Parliament:

  The petition of certain citizens of Australia draws attention to the House of the Senate.

  Your petitioners request the House to support Native Title legislation that advances the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

  We request that:

  the Commonwealth honour its obligations under international Human Rights Instruments and International Law.

  the Commonwealth legislation in response to the High Court's decision on Native Title is based on the principles set out in the "Eva Valley Statement".

  any Federal legislation should consider first and foremost the views of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
