Senator PETER BAUME (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs)(10.57)
—I move:
That existing Standing Order 64 be left out and that the new Standing Order 64, as contained in the sessional order made by the Senate on 26 November 1980, be inserted in its place.
This procedure refers to the way in which the Senate deals with urgency motions and matters of public importance. Honourable senators will recall that the new Standing Order which has been in operation on a trial basis has established of procedure for matters of public importance. The recommendation of the Standing Orders Committee is that the trial having been successful in the judgement of the chamber the Standing Order should now be adopted as a permanent standing order.
Question resolved in the affirmative.
Item 2. Transfer of notice of motion for disallowance
