Senator DURACK (Attorney-General)(3.46) —in reply-I am somewhat confused by Senator Evans's intervention on Senator Harradine making a speech at the second reading stage in the way in which Senator Evans invited honourable senators to deal with the matter. But we are always fairly confused by Senator Evans's suggestions. I suppose there is nothing new about that. As I understand it, we will not now deal with this matter at the second reading stage but in the Committee stage. There is not much for me to say in summing up this debate because all honourable senators who have spoken support the measure. Therefore it ought to be given a second reading without any further delay.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.
