Senator Ryan asked the Minister representing the Minister for Employment and Youth Affairs, upon notice, on 4 December 1980:

(1) How many people are currently receiving training under the National Employment and Training (NEAT) Scheme.

(2) How many of these are (a) women; and (b) women born outside Australia; and (c) Aboriginals.


Senator Dame Margaret Guilfoyle —The Minister for Employment and Youth Affairs has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) There were 21,356 persons receiving assistance under the NEAT system at the end of November 1980.

(2) Of these there were (a) a total of 10,154 women in training, (b) of these 1,368 were born outside Australia, and (c) 2,800 Aboriginal persons were in training.
